“Sterile, precise, dystopian [...] The devised piece by director Miriam Schmidtke and performer Mimu Merz presents a cold, fully programmed world. [...] Rather than simply holding up a mirror to the audience, Schmidtke stages the bleak routines of everyday life: sleeping, eating, exercising, sex, exchanging pleasantries on repeat. The coherent performance can be read as a critical commentary on the automated mania of self-optimization.”
— Huy Van Jonny Diep, Der Standard

“In a world of sterile superficiality, the human being appears perpetually inadequate. Existence becomes a ritualized vegetating life filled with neurotic processes from which the performers attempt to emancipate themselves.
‘How can I actually protect my internal ecosystem, my own ecosystem, from what happens outside—but also partly from what happens inside me?’ [says Miriam Schmidtke]. Here, ‘ecosystem’ refers to the human psyche and body, exposed to a hostile and demanding world. In a sense, the inhuman conditions of the clean room continue to resonate in the gadgets created there and which go on to shape our lives — this is one possible interpretation of Miriam Schmidtke’s work.”
— Paul Lohberger, Deutschlandfunk Kultur – Corso
